Northern California Administrative Fellowship Program

The Kaiser Permanente Northern California Administrative Fellowship Program allows fellows to experience a balance of strategic and operational work, with an emphasis on health care operations.

Leading within an integrated health care system

Fellows rotate through  Kaiser Foundation Hospitals (KFH) and The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG), with optional rotations with Kaiser Permanente Northern California Regional Offices or Enterprise Program Offices.
Rotation preceptors are the Senior Vice President & Area Manager (KFH) and the Chief Administrative Office (TPMG), which allows fellows to be exposed to the highest level of leadership in the organization. The fellowship is supported by regional directors that support the fellows throughout the entire program.

Fellowship projects

The Northern California Administrative Fellowship Program allows fellows to experience a balance of strategic and operational work, with an emphasis on health care operations. Projects are selected based on personal interest and medical center needs. The breadth and depth of projects allow fellows to gain widespread visibility into the organization while building meaningful connections.

  • Conducted a strategic analysis of the Pain Program, highlighting program efficiency and potential focus areas.
  • Managed Medical Center’s Flu/COVID Drive Thru operations.
  • Served as co-manager for primary care department.
  • Collaborated with the PI Consulting Team on a Value Stream focused on improving outcomes for patients with diabetes.
  • Served as Team Lead for a Value Stream Rapid Improvement Event.
  • Managed Quality Compliance work for a new Cardiac Robot.
  • Implemented Advanced Care at Home providing care in lieu of hospitalization in the San Francisco area.
  • Led hospital emergency response readiness workstreams ahead of the Super Bowl.
  • Supported multiple Incident Command Center activations during high‑acuity events.
